Here you will learn all you need to know about the one and only,
5 Seconds of Summer!
The band consists of
Luke,
Ashton, Calum & Michael (order
of the photo). They are band from Sydney, the western suburbs. They are
a group of teenage boys whom are doing what they enjoy the most, making
music. Some of their biggest inspirations are bands such as Blink 182,
All time low, Ed sheeran, Mayday Parade & Boys like girls.The band
started in December of 2011. It was originally just Luke doing solo
covers, and slowly a band of one became a band of three - Luke, Michael
& Calum. They all attended Norwest Christian College together but
Not long after, around about Christmas Time, Ashton was asked to join
the band as the band’s drummer. 7 months on, the boys are now doing
tours, radio shows, meets and greets and who knows what is to come. The
boys are currently touring with One direction and have just finished
their own tour back here in Australia called the #Pantsdowntour! &
at this point in time (

Luke Hemmings
Luke is known as the front man but the
youngest. He was born on the 16th of July, 1996, is still in school but
on tour he does tour tutoring with his mother Liz who is a teacher!
which kinda like home schooling, but while you’re on tour. Before the
band was known as 5 Seconds of Summer, Luke was covering solos by
himself. He plays the guitar and has a strong, and wonderful, voice. He
is obsessed with Penguin’s and only wears Black skinny jeans (with a
hole in the knee) and vans. You can check out all his videos on his

Hemmo - Hemmings, you’ll get it eventually. Out
of all the boys, Luke is the one that keeps his life private, and does
not accept friend requests on facebook. Please respect that. Luke has
two brothers (Jack & Ben)
Aleisha is Luke’s ex. they broke up August 2012- for all of you asking.
Michael Clifford
Michael was born on the 20th of
November 1995, one year older than Luke. Some would say he’s the ladies
man or the “clown” of the band. You can never keep up with his hair
colour, it changes daily-to-weekly. He plays the guitar and harmonises
in songs. He likes cheese burgers, no onions or pickles and when no one
is around he wears matching track pants and jumpers ;);). To keep his
fans on his facebook account humoured he takes lots of selfiessss. His
facebook is currently deleted but he does have a private one for old
friends and family only. Michael is an only child.
Geordie is one of Michael’s ex-girlfriend’s and yes she did used to co-own this blog with Jess - for all of you asking.
Calum Hood
Calum was born on the 25th of January
1996. He plays the bass in 5sos & He gave up his soccer to commit
music 24/7. He plays the bass and does vocals. he has voice like sex.
Most people think he’s asian, when he’s actually half Scottish and half
Kiwi. Also, because he’s the only non-white and non-blonde member in the
band, he is also not the rapper. Some may say he’s also the shy one. He
has an older sister (Mali-Koa).
Ashton Irwin
Ashton, The only legal one out of the group so far, being born on the
7th July 1994. He’s the oldest member, yet the newest. He’s the drummer
and plays a box ;). Ashton is probably the main guy who makes Keek’s
and likes to keep all the fans updated on what the band is doing and
where they are (sometimes they have no idea themselves). He used to wear
glasses (& needs to find them soon before he goes blind) but he
lost them :(. He’s a slipknot fan as well, for those who love skipknot.
Tonight Alive is one of his favourite bands and he fangirled so hard
when they came to one of their gigs in Australia. Ash is about 6ft tall
and has said he is one of the shortest band members! He has a younger
brother (harry) and sister (Lauren).

So how did 5sos even come about do you ask?
Well it all started in 2011 when Luke posted his first video on
February 3rd on his youtube account, Hemmo1996 & it all started from
there. After a few more covers by just Luke, 2 months later, he then
asked his 2 best friends (Michael & Calum) to start a band with him.
Their first cover together was I Miss You by Blink 182 posted on June
4th, 2011. On December 4th 2011, Ashton officially became apart of their
band and they formed 5 Seconds of Summer. After promoting their music
and doing small gigs around Australia in Brisbane, Sydney &
Melbourne, and doing twitcam’s and sharing their music like crazy. On
september 11, 2012 they announced that they were going to be on their
first supporting act tour with Hot Chelle Rae that had lead amazing
opportunity to go over to London after the tour and write some music
and with that, they released their first Unplugged EP around the 29th
November 2012. & on the 7th of December they released their first
official EP, ‘Somewhere New.’
On February 22nd 2013, they posted
their first official music video ‘HeartBreak Girl.’ They started touring
with One Direction on the 24th Feburary 2013 and did their first live
sold-out arena show at the O2 Arena in London. They just finished their 8
month America/Australia/New Zealand tour with One direction which ended
at the end of October. They are currently in the UK playing 2 shows at
the KOKO (26th/27th November).
Future Plan?
Their future plans include doing their own headline tour in America
in 2014. Touring a full tour around Australia in 2014. & Doing a UK
tour (
tickets&dates here) + hopefully have a few more music videos out in 2014, stay tuned, big plans are happening xx
